Patna: The Janata Dal (United) today removed Sharad Yadav as party leader in Rajya Sabha.
The development comes after Kumar on Friday virtually shut the door on any reconciliation with rebel leader Sharad Yadav, saying he is free to take any decision as the alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party had the entire party’s nod.
Party President Nitish Kumar has made RCP Singh as new leader of the party in the Upper House.
The party has written a letter to the chairman of the Rajya Sabha in this regard.
Earlier today, Sharad Yadav said that JD-U is not only Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s party, but also his party.
Sharad Yadav said “Jab hum Indira Gandhi se nahi dare aur unke khilaf khade hue, kisi aur se kaisa darna,” he said.
Earlier, JD (U) suspended its Rajya Sabha member Ali Anwar Ansari from the Parliamentary Party for attending a meeting of opposition parties convened by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi yesterday.
Party spokesperson KC Tyagi said that he has been suspended from the Parliamentary Party for his anti-party activities.
