New Delhi: The Boyfriend, Japan’s first-ever same-sex romantic reality show, will soon be available on Netflix. With its heartfelt and calming story, this new series aims to fill the gap left by the beloved Terrace House.
The Boyfriend chronicles the month-long experiences of nine guys who share a seaside home. Working at a coffee truck will be a great way for individuals to meet new people, get experience, and discover more about themselves. Even while the main goal is to make connections and grow as individuals, romantic relationships are still possible if feelings go beyond friendship.
The Boyfriend, the pioneering Japanese same-sex romantic reality show, embraced love in all its manifestations and paved the way for future reality dating shows. The streaming service will begin airing the show on July 9.
Plot
A group of men share a house and operate a coffee truck for a month in the hopes of connecting and, eventually, finding their soul mates.
The Green Room beach home, situated on the coast, serves as the romantic backdrop for nine guys. They establish strong bonds and gain self-awareness as they share a peppermint green coffee truck for a month and take turns working shifts. With a diverse cast that includes MEGUMI, Chiaki Horan, Yoshimi Tokui, Durian Lollobrigida, and Thelma Aoyama as hosts, the program is sure to take viewers on an emotional roller coaster.

When and Where to Watch?
On July 9, 2024, The Boyfriend will make its Netflix debut, with fresh episodes dropping every Tuesday thereafter. Ten riveting episodes will take viewers on an epic adventure through the lives and relationships of the show’s participants.

Cast and Crew
This series will be presented by a wide range of Japanese stars, each of whom will provide a fresh viewpoint. Members of the host team include MEGUMI, Horan Chiaki, Aoyama Thelma, Durian Lollobrigida, and Tokui Yoshimi. These hosts will provide their thoughts and observations on the house’s dynamics and happenings.
Managing Netflix Japan’s live-action originals is Dai Ota, who is also the show’s executive producer. Keisuke Hishida of Kyodo Television is the director and the principal producer. Taiki, who is known for her work as a model, DJ, and YouTube vlogger, serves as producer and casting director. Korean indie rock band Glen Check’s “Dazed & Confused” is used in the series’ touching teaser video.
