Guwahati: Incessant rains have thrown life out of gear in Guwahati city. Yesterdat, two persons have been died due to electrocution in R.G. Baruah Road near State Zoo. Another person reportedly swept away tonight. Deputy Commissioner Kamrup Metro M Angamuthu has ordered a magisterial inquiry on this issue. Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal has directed Kamrup Metro district and Guwahati Development Department to be prepared to face any eventuality in the wake of heavy rain.
All educational institutes in Kamrup Metro district will remain closed today as the weather men predicted heavy rain. District administration appealed people to vacate the land slide prone areas. Kamrup Metro district administration has also set up control room in the wake of heavy rain and landslide incidents in Guwahati.
