New Delhi: The BJP Parliamentary Board meeting to finalise Presidential nominee is underway at party headquarter in New Delhi.
The announcement was made by BJP President Amit Shah in New Delhi after BJP Parliamentary Board meeting discussed the upcoming Presidential election.
Amit Shah said that Kovind has worked hard for the Dalits and backward sections of society.
He said political parties had been informed of the NDA’s choice.
“I hope all will agree to the name,” he said.
Yesterday, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu who is the part of party’s three member committee to hold consultation with political parties had said that the party will finalize the name for the Presidential election by 23rd of this month.
The committee already had consultations with leaders various political parties including Congress President Sonia Gandhi, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav, JD (U)’s Sharad Yadav.
Yesterday, BJP president Amit Shah had held a close-door meeting with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.
The presidential election will be held on July 17 and the counting of votes is slated for July 20. The tenure of incumbent President Pranab Mukherjee ends on July 24.
