New Delhi: In Egypt, the security forces have killed 14 terrorists in an encounter, a day after 23 Army personnel were killed in a militant attack in the restive North Sinai region.
The Interior ministry said in a statement that the security forces raided a training camp organised by terrorists for new recruits in Ismailia city which is situated in north-eastern Egypt, where new recruits were being given physical training and lessons in use of weapons.
On Saturday, at least 23 Egyptian soldiers were killed and another 26 injured when suicide car bombs tore through two military checkpoints in North Sinai.
Security sources said, the two cars blew up at two checkpoints outside of a military compound just south of Rafah, on the border with the Gaza Strip.
The attack is the most severe in Sinai since at least July 2015, when Islamic State militants assaulted simultaneously a slew of checkpoints and military sites around North Sinai.
