Gorakhpur: The Centre has announced setting up of a regional medical research centre at Gorakhpur in view of the recurring deaths of children in the region. Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda told media persons that his ministry has sanctioned 85 crore rupees for the project, immediately.

The announcement comes in the wake of several deaths at BRD Medical College during the past one week. The Union Minister said, a team of specialists from New Delhi are camping at Gorakhpur to strengthen the treatment protocol and ascertain the cause of death of so many children.
Nadda visited the hospital along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Mr Yogi Adityanath said, a high powered committee headed by state Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar will ascertain the recent deaths. He promised strict action against those responsible for the situation.
