New Delhi: The nation pays homage to the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his 128th birth anniversary today.
Political leaders and eminent persons paid tribute to him at his Samadhi, Shanti Vana in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Manila to attend the India-ASEAN summit, also paid tributes to Nehru.
“Tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary,” he wrote on Twitter.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu also remembered country’s first prime minister.
“Wish the nation on the occasion of birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, today,” Naidu tweeted.
Nehru was born on this day in 1889 in Allahabad. The day is also celebrated as Children’s Day.
