New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said it is time to intensify cooperation in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.
Addressing the 15th ASEAN-India Summit in Manila this evening, he said the countries in the region have individually striven hard to fight the scourge of terrorism, adding a joint effort is now necessary.
Mr Modi highlighted that India’s Act East Policy is shaped around the ASEAN. He added that the bloc is at the centrality in the regional security architecture of the Indo-Pacific region.
Mr Modi assured the ASEAN of India’s steady support towards achieving a rule-based structure that best attests to the region’s interests and its peaceful development.
Mr Modi observed that ASEAN’s remarkable journey is worthy of reflection, as much as it is of celebration. He said, he is looking forward to the visit of the ASEAN leaders for the India-ASEAN Special Commemorative Summit.
