New Delhi: This is yet another launch of hatchback from the BMW group. The auto major launched 2019 Mini John Cooper Works (JCW) in India at a price of Rs 43.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

This hot hatchback is the fastest car in MINI’s line-up. The Mini JCW will be available at all Mini dealerships from June 2019.

The petrol-powered hatchback costs Rs 9.3 lakh more than the Mini 3-Door Cooper S (petrol) and offers 39PS more power. On the road, that translates into a quicker 0-100kmph time of 6.1 seconds (claimed) for the JCW compared to the Cooper S’ 6.7 seconds. In terms of fuel efficiency, while the Cooper S is claimed to deliver 17.33kmpl, the JCW offers 16.47kmpl.

The Mini 3-Door Hatch is also available with a diesel engine (Cooper D). It costs Rs 29.9 lakh (ex-showroom), makes 114PS of maximum power and can do the 0-100kmph stint in 9.2 seconds. The Cooper D’s claimed fuel efficiency is 20.7kmpl.

The Mini JCW, on the other hand, uses a mechanically uprated (new pistons, turbo and exhaust) version of the same 2-litre turbocharged petrol powertrain, to net a total of 234PS and 320Nm torque – a 24PS increase over the 210PS-equipped Mini JCW Pro Edition, the last ‘hot’ Mini sold in India.

Under the hood of the 2019 MINI JCW is a 1,998 cc four-cylinder twin-turbo engine that makes 231 bhp and 320 Nm of torque from as low as 1,450 rpm. The engine is paired to an eight-speed Steptronic Sport Transmission.

The Mini John Cooper works, in fact, even gets uprated springs and dampers and lightened suspension. There are new anti-roll bars too, lightweight support bearings and triple-path strut mounts. There are also Sport, Comfort and Efficiency modes to configure your drive as want it.
