New, powerful Mahindra XUV500 to be launched
New Delhi: Mahindra and Mahindra are working on a facelifted version of the XUV500, according to Autocar India.
After the cosmetic changes, a new and more powerful Mahindra XUV 500 will be launched this year only.
The Indian auto giant is expected to introduce the updated model towards the end of this year, possibly around the festive season, said reports.
Facing competition from Tata Hexa and Innova, Mahindra has been constantly introducing updates on the XUV500.
The new engine is expected to produce 170 hp of power and 400Nm of torque. In 2015, the XUV500 was given a minor facelift on the inside and the exterior.
The current version of the Mahindra XUV500 is offered with two diesel engine options, a 1.99 litre mHawk — available only in the Delhi NCR — and a 2.2-litre mHawk unit.
The car manufacturer will also introduce a new MPV that will replace Xylo replacement is codenamed the U321.
