What is Zepto and how it made college drop-outs, millionaires with grocery business?

New Delhi: The recently released Hurun India Future Unicorn Index 2022 list by the research firm Hurun India, in partnership with the wealth management firm IIFL Wealth was indeed a seal of approval for young entrepreneurs Kaivalya Vohra and Aadit Palicha.

The duo emerged among the richest Indians as well as the youngest start-up founders on the list. Vohra and Palicha has founded their startup venture Zepto two years ago during the Covid-19-induced pandemic.

What is Zepto? 

Zepto is an online grocery delivery service that claims to provide orders to consumers in a duration of just 10-minutes. Kaivalya Vohra (19) and Aadit Palicha (20) came up with the idea after they failed to get their basic groceries during the lockdown induced due to the first wave of coronavirus pandemic.

Both are childhood friends and Stanford University dropouts and are currently collaborating to run e-commerce retail, operational in 10 major cities in the country.

The firm has nearly 1,000 employees working for it, while it sells over 3,000 products on its platform. The duo has garnered terrific success with their startup venture with Zepto now valuing $900 million.

In the Hurun India Future Unicorn Index 2022, Kaivalya Vohra stands at 1,036 place with a net worth close to Rs 1,000 crores. On the other hand, Palicha is at 950th rank with a wealth of Rs 1,200 crore.
