Delhi Covid-19 tally over 5 lakh; CM Kejriwal chairs all-party meeting

The total 503,084 cases include 42,458 active cases, 452,683 recoveries and 7,943 deaths, as per the latest reports.

New Delhi: With 7,486 new cases, the Covid-19 tally in the national capital on Wednesday climbed over 500,000 mark. The city recorded 131 new fatalities in the last 24 hours which is the highest number of deaths in a single day.

The total 503,084 cases include 42,458 active cases, 452,683 recoveries and 7,943 deaths, as per the latest reports.

With 38,617 new COVID-19 cases, India's tally crosses 89-lakh mark

These fresh cases were detected on the basis of 19085 RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests conducted today, according to a bulletin issued by the Delhi State Heatlh department. Rapid antigen test conducted today stood at 43,147. The positivity rate was recorded at 12.03 per cent and the total recoveries was recorded at 6,901.

Amid the sudden rise in the cases, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will chair an all-party meeting to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the city today. The meeting is scheduled to be held  at 11 am.

The all-party meeting will take place two days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting which was attended by Kejriwal and others ministers to tackle the covid situation in the Delhi.

The Centre has taken steps to increase the availability of ICU beds in the national capital in view of the rise in cases. Additional Chief Secretary (Services), took a review meeting of all district magistrates on Covid-19 management.

Principal Secretary Health and Family welfare, took a meeting of Medical Directors/Medical Superintendents of dedicated Covid Hospitals of Delhi Government, authorities said.
