New Delhi: Gautam Buddh Nagar health officials have begun random Covid-19 testing on commuters coming from Delhi to the city from today. This step comes amid the recent rise in Corona cases in Delhi-NCR.

Random sampling and micro-containment strategy were announced by District Magistrate Suhas L Y on Tuesday to control COVID-19 spread in the region.

“We will start random sampling and use a micro-containment strategy to control the spread of the COVID-19 in the highly impacted areas. Due to an increase in the COVID-19 cases in adjacent areas, there shall be random sampling from and amongst the incoming traffic without causing any inconvenience to the commuters,” District Magistrate Suhas said

“This is being done in order to assess the spread of infection and will help in issuing advisories to employers and organisations, where a large number of people work and commute between Gautam Budh Nagar and adjacent areas,” he added.

DM Suahs assured that the traffic between Delhi and Noida would continue to be normal.

The tests are randomly conducted and if someone is found positive they will be quarantined. These are precautionary steps to keep Noida secure and avoid problems later, says DR Deepak Ohri, CMO Noida District
