Convocation of IIT-Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the convocation event of IIT-Guwahati said that the future of a nation is what its youth think today.

New Delhi:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati through video-conferencing .

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Minister of State for Education Sanjay Dhotre and other dignitaries also participated in the event.

According to the statement, as many as 1,803 students including 687 B Tech and 637 M Tech students has obtained degrees.

IIIT Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020 will entitle the institutions to use the nomenclature of Bachelor of Technology (http://B.Tech) or Master of Technology (http://M.Tech) or PhD degree as issued by a University or Institution of National Importance.

The Bill will declare 5 IIITs in Public-Private Partnership mode at Surat, Bhopal, Bhagalpur, Agartala & Raichur as Institutions of National Importance by granting them statutory status along with the already existing 15 IIITs under the IIIT (PPP) Act, 2017.
