New Delhi: The newly constituted 17th Lok Sabha has a clear saffron stamp, with BJP sweeping 303 of 542 Parliamentary seats that went to the polls.

According to data from PRS legislative research, 397 MPs have been elected from national parties. Congress got its 52 MPs elected while TMC emerged victorious on 22 LS seats.

With over 14 per cent female MPs, the 17th Lok Sabha will have the highest number of women candidates since 1952. In 16th Lok Sabha, 64 women had won, while 52 women were elected to the 15th Lok Sabha.

Elections were held for 542 of the 543 seats. The election in Vellore Lok Sabha seat was cancelled by the EC citing abuse of money power. A fresh date is yet to be announced.
