New Delhi: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Friday said that the statement made by Sharad Yadav is an insult to her and all the women.

“Nothing can be sadder than this as he was always very close to our family. Youth can take cue from this to set an example…I feel insulted, this is an insult to all women,” she said after casting her vote in Jhalrapatan constituency of Jhalawar.

Bihar leader Sharad Yadav, while campaigning in Rajasthan’s Alwar on December 5, had body-shamed Vasundhara Raje, saying that she should take rest as she has gained weight.

“Vasundhara [Raje] ko aaram do, thak gayi hain, bahut moti ho gayi hain, pehle patli thi [Give some rest to Vasundhara, she is tired and has gained too much weight. Earlier, she was thin] ,” he said.

However, Yadav later told ANI that the remark was meant to be a joke. “I said it as a joke. I’ve old relations with her. It wasn’t derogatory in any way. I had no intentions of hurting her. When I met her, I told her then also that you’re gaining weight,” he said.

Congress leader Sachin Pilot, however, attacked Vasundhara Raje over “I feel insulted”, saying that she has no basis of saying so as women atrocities hae taken place under her rule in the state.
