Actor Mahesh Anand found dead at Mumbai home at the age 57
The body of Mahesh Anand, who was last seen in Govinda’s ‘Rangeela Raja’ released last month, was found in a decomposed state from his residence in Andheri West’s Yari road, police said.
New Delhi: Mahesh Anand, who essayed negative roles in a number of Bollywood movies, was on Saturday found dead at his home in Mumbai under mysterious circumstances.
The police did not rule out suicide. However, no suicide note has been recovered.
Living alone as his wife stayed in Moscow, Anand is suspected to have died at least two days ago. His body was sent to the nearby Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem to ascertain the time and cause of death. Even though the police could not find a suicide note, the possibility has not been ruled out.
Anand has appeared alongside top stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Govinda in films like Shahenshah (1988), Thanedaar (1990), Vishwatma (1992), Gumrah (1993), Khuddar (1994), Coolie No 1 (1995) and Vijeta (1996).
While the reason behind the actor’s death is unclear, doctors from the hospital said the body was brought from his residence in a decomposed condition.
However, Anand had been facing major financial issues for the last several years and even had a drinking problem, according to ANI. His last film Pahlaj Nihalani’s production Rangeela Raja featuring Govinda in the lead role, which released on January 18, was his first appearance on the big screen in 18 years.
