Plot

After the death of his mother, Rein seeks solace far from the noise and chaos of city life. He relocates to a quaint, remote village nestled in the heart of the Alps, hoping that the serenity of snow-covered peaks and the slow rhythm of nature will help him heal. In this quiet mountain haven, he finds comfort in a simple, solitary routine — spending his days meditating, teaching snowboarding to tourists, and reconnecting with the wilderness.

Rein carves out a quiet, self-contained life. The mountains offer a sense of control, peace, and introspection — everything he believes he needs to process his grief and rediscover himself. However, his hard-earned stillness is soon disrupted when his father, Gijs, unexpectedly arrives for a visit. Unlike Rein, Gijs is loud, extroverted, and emotionally expressive — the complete opposite of his son’s withdrawn and contemplative nature.

What begins as a polite reunion quickly becomes a source of growing tension. Gijs’s well-meaning but intrusive presence chips away at Rein’s carefully constructed bubble. His father’s spontaneous behavior, emotional openness, and attempts to reconnect force Rein to confront not only the unresolved grief over his mother’s death but also the strained dynamic between father and son.

As days pass, the emotional distance between them becomes impossible to ignore. Rein begins to feel suffocated by his father’s energy, his presence a constant reminder of the emotions Rein is trying to suppress. Eventually, his patience wears thin, and he reaches a breaking point, making it painfully clear that his father’s presence is no longer welcome.

What follows is a deeply personal exploration of grief, identity, and the fragile bond between a father and son who have grown into strangers.
