The story takes place in 1993, a time when there was a lack of technology such as CCTV cameras and mobile tracking devices to catch criminals. As a result, law enforcement officers had to depend only on their investigation abilities.

Coincidentally, during the film’s composition, Jinu was contacted by a senior police official about the 2018 disappearance of a Kanjirappally-based B. Com student from Jesna. The officer was looking for Adam Joan’s video that was taken in the vicinity. But the was fact that Adam Joan was shot in 2017. As per Jinu, even though the information was false, the storyline of Anweshippin Kandethum is still pertinent.
