New Delhi: Archana Puran Singh is currently seen judging India’s Laughter Champion with Shekhar Suman. Previously, Archana appeared as a special guest on The Kapil Sharma Show for many years, after replacing Navjot Singh Sidhu. The actress opened up about her family’s reactions to the jokes cracked upon her. She also talked about how her children are cool with their mom being roasted. Archana also stated how her mother finds fun in the jokes by Kapil Sharma and also her husband Parmeet Sethi wants royalty for jokes made at her expense.
Archana and her husband Parmeet Sethi who is an actor as well as a writer have been married for 30 years. The couple has two sons – Aryamann and Ayushmaan, who are well versed in standup comedy and its concept.
While talking to ETimes, Archana revealed how her kids and husband react to the jokes cracked upon her. She stated, “They are young modern kids, who watch Hollywood films and standup which has roasting and there’s no limit. They have seen their mother being a victim of insult comedy and being roasted since they were five-six years old. Comedy Circus ke time se…. They think it is very normal and Parmeet on the other hand says they crack so many jokes on me but they don’t pay royalty to me. I deserve royalty on every punch that I clean vessels at home and do all your work.”
Archana also said that her mother enjoys Kapil Sharma roasting her and even teases her after watching The Kapil Sharma Show. “She teases me. She says, ‘Aaj Kapil tujhe bol raha tha mooche ugg aayi hain, after 12:30 tere mooche ugg jaati hain,’ she enjoys and laughs also. Then sometimes she says, ‘Aaj toh Kapil bol raha tha Tere dole (biceps) is like Sunny Deol’.”
In the Kapil Sharma show, Archana was often the subject of jokes. The show has recently come to an end and has been replaced by India’s Laughter Champion. She is the judge of the show along with Shekhar Suman. Kapil Sharma is currently working on a film directed by Nandita Das.
