New Delhi: Popular comedian Raju Srivastava suffered a major cardiac arrest on August 10. As per the latest reports, his condition has deteriorated as he has suffered brain damage. He has not gained consciousness as of now.
Raju Srivastava gained popularity from a stand-up comedy show called Laughter Challenge. Since then his humourous punch lines and the characters he brings to the stage have won many hearts. He is well known for his observational comedy, commenting upon people’s behaviour on several occasions such as marriage, road accidents, etc. His character of ‘Gajodhar’ became a household name.
He has been a part of several comedy shows such as The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, The Kapil Sharma Show and Comedy Circus. The comedian has also been part of some Bollywood ventures like Maine Pyaar Kiya, Tezaab, Baazigar and more.

The news of his cardiac arrest was confirmed by his brother-in-law Ashish Srivastava. Raju experienced chest pain during a workout session in a gym. As the comedian collapsed, he was rushed to Delhi’s AIIMS hospital by the gym trainer and was given CPR twice to resuscitate his heart. Later he was shifted to ventilator support.
