While many users are bashing the film's director for spreading misinformation about Ramayana, others are claiming that the film is a deliberate attempt to defame the Hindu religion

New Delhi: South India’s lady Superstar Nayanthara’s Tamil drama Annapoorani: The Godless Of Food, which recently streamed on Netflix, has stirred up a huge controversy on social media over its controversial dialogues about Lord Rama.

Infuriated netizens are now accusing Nilesh Krishna’s directorial of hurting Hindu sentiments and promoting love Jihad while sharing the stills of several outrageous scenes from the film on various social media platforms. Many are also calling for boycotting digital giant Netflix for giving a platform to such anti-Hindu movies.

Annapoorani’s Controversial Dialogue About Lord Rama

Helmed by renowned director Nitesh Krishna, Nayanthara starter Annapoorani started streaming on Netflix on 29th December. While the movie was supposed to give a  message of breaking religious restrictions coming in the way of one’s passion for cuisine and cooking, it ended up upsetting a large section of the Hindu community for its controversial scenes about Ramayana and objectionable claims about Lord Rama’s food habits.

The scene from Annapoorani which ignited the emotions of many features a man who is seen telling Nayanthara’s character that during their time in exile (Vanwas), Lord Rama used to cook and eat meat of various Animals.

He says,”Valmiki me Ramayana me kaha hai jab Vanvas me bhook lagi this to Ram, Laxman aur seeta ne janwaro ko pakaa kar khaya that, Ramayana me bhi likha hai ki un logo ne non veg khaya that, Ram to Vishnu ka hi avatar hai ?”

Furies Netizens Calls for Boycotting Netflix

The outrageous dialogues from the Nayanthara starrer have triggered the sentiments of thousands of internet users who are now taking to Twitter (X) and voicing their anger against the film and Netflix.

While many users are bashing the film’s director for spreading misinformation about Ramayana, others are claiming that the film is a deliberate attempt to defame the Hindu religion.

Commenting on the same, One user wrote, “A Brahmin girl loving the smell of meat and her father is stopping her from doing it, if this is not brainwashing then what is it?

” Another one added, “SHAME ON U NETFLIX INDIA You are Spreading total misinformation about Hinduism and its culture.” A third individual said, “How can a 13-year-old girl brought up in a Brahmin family love the smell of nonveg.”
