Call of the Night OTT Release: The highly anticipated second season of Call of the Night, the captivating supernatural romance anime, is finally on its way to streaming platforms.
After a successful first season that charmed audiences with its unique blend of nocturnal adventure, teenage angst, and budding romance between a human and a vampire, fans have eagerly awaited the next chapter.
Call of the Night Season 2 is set to premiere on Crunchyroll starting from the 4th of July, 2025.
Plot
The story begins with Ko Yamori, a middle school student who feels disconnected from everyday life. Despite being academically capable and well-liked, Ko grows disillusioned with the repetitive and hollow routine of school, relationships, and social norms. This existential discomfort causes him to withdraw from society and suffer from chronic insomnia.
One night, unable to sleep, Ko sneaks out and begins wandering the quiet streets of the city. It’s during these nocturnal strolls that he feels a strange sense of liberation—a sharp contrast to the pressures of his daytime life. On one such outing, he meets Nazuna Nanakusa, a strange but charismatic girl who claims to be a vampire.
Nazuna, unlike the stereotypical vampire, is quirky, uninhibited, and fond of teasing Ko. After luring him to her apartment and drinking his blood, Nazuna reveals that a human must fall in love with a vampire before they can be turned into one. Ko, fascinated by her and the night itself, declares that he wants to become a vampire too. His motivation isn’t immortality—it’s a desire to break free from his mundane, lifeless existence.
Nazuna doesn’t immediately reciprocate his feelings, but she agrees to hang out with him nightly to help him fall in love with her (and, in her words, because his blood is “delicious”). Thus begins Ko’s nightly ritual of sneaking out and spending time with Nazuna, leading to a slowly developing emotional connection.
