New Delhi: Prakash Kaur, Dharmendra’s first wife, has kept herself away from the limelight all these years. When the veteran actor married his co-star Hema Malini in 1980, Prakash was left utterly heartbroken to the point she went into depression.
In an old interview from 1981, Prakash said that she still loves and respects Dharmendra. She said that Dharmendra is the father of her children and she still has faith in him.
In 1980, Dharmendra went on to marry Hema Malini, after the two fell in love after working on many projects together. However, he didn’t divorce Prakash Kaur.
Prakash Kaur further told that she couldn’t understand the way things were unfolding and was confused about whether she should blame her fate or her husband and his lover.
Although, she swore by them saying that whenever she needs them, they support her.
While talking about Hema Malini, Prakash Kaur said even though she understands what Hema Malini went through, had it been her in the actress’s place, she wouldn’t do the same.
Prakash Kaur added that being a mother and a wife, she can not approve of what Hema Malini did.
In order to marry Hema Malini without divorcing Prakash Kaur, Dharmendra converted to Islam to tackle the legal aspects of polygamy. He and Prakash had 4 children together when he married for the second time.
After marrying his dream girl Hema Malini, Dharmendra became father to 2 more children, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
Meanwhile, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta, and Ajeeta are his kids from Prakash Kaur. Lastly, Prakash added that even if the actor couldn’t be a good husband to her, she is still a good father.
