New Delhi: Deepika Padukone has established herself as a global star and the Bollywood actor featured on the cover of TIME Magazine, which is yet another proof of it. She was among the 100 Most Influential People named by the magazine in 2018 and this time she posed for its cover in an oversized suit as she stood tall barefoot.
Deepika has been to Cannes and MET Gala, she recently presented ‘Naatu Naatu’ at the Oscars ceremony and the actor made her Hollywood debut with Vin Diesel in ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’, which shows her putting a mark in the West. The magazine credited her for bringing the world to Bollywood and called her the ‘most popular actress in the most populous country’.
In an interview with TIME magazine, Deepika opened up about facing a political backlash in India. The actor has been a target of right-wing Hindu outfits a number of times, including for her film ‘Padmaavat’, attending anti-CAA protests in Delhi’s JNU, and recently for wearing a saffron bikini in the blockbuster hit ‘Pathaan’. Talking about polarized politics, Deepika said that she does not know if she is supposed to feel something about it and added that she does not feel anything about it.
Talking about her husband Ranveer Singh, Deepika said that he has put her dreams and ambitions first. The couple tied the knot in November 2018 and has been one of the most loved celebrity couples in India.

About winning the Oscars, she said that India should not be satisfied with two Oscars and should thrive for better content and more international acclaim.
On the work front, Deepika will next be seen in ‘Project K’ alongside Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Dulquer Salman, and Disha Patani. She also has ‘Fighter’ opposite Hrithik Roshan in the pipeline.
