New Delhi: Having proved his mettle amid the South Indian audience multiple times with films like Super Deluxe, Vikram Vedha, Master and Vikram, Vijay Sethupathi recently won everyone’s heart with his performance in Raj & DK’s Farzi. While the show got glowing reviews from all critics, Vijay’s stellar performance and his way of speaking the Hindi language were specially acknowledged. Raj & DK stitched the character keeping Vijay in mind and therefore what would have been a mismatch actually enhances the comedic elements in his role and represents an aspect of the language barrier often ignored in films.

In a recent interview with PTI, Vijay compared his character in Farzi to a fruit salad, implying that he is a mixture and these multiple facets are maybe what struck the audiences. Raj & DK mentioned that they were very keen on working with the actor and therefore adapted the character to him before even meeting him. With a growing fan following, the fans can’t get enough of Vijay’s performance calling it a “stunning” and “effortless” performance. Saying the South Indian flavour in his Hindi worked well with the storytelling and was “Perfect” considering the background of the character.

The legendary actor made the news in January when he gave an interview mentioning that the Hindi audiences don’t take him seriously. He refused to call Farzi a debut saying he has been in the industry for 12 years and that he puts the same effort in every scene despite language and stature. When speaking of Shahid, he said they were close like brothers and that synergy showed in their performances.
