Plot
Forever is an emotionally resonant series, inspired by the 1975 novel, that explores the journey of love and self-discovery through the eyes of two Black teenagers, Keisha (Lovie Simone) and Justin (Michael Cooper Jr.). Created by Brock Akil, the series captures the awkwardness, beauty, and transformative power of being each other’s “Firsts” in every sense of the word—first love, first heartbreak, and first encounter with the complexities of identity.
The series takes viewers deep into the lives of Keisha and Justin, who, despite coming from different backgrounds, find themselves navigating the turbulent waters of adolescence together. Keisha, strong-willed and introspective, and Justin, thoughtful but sometimes uncertain, begin a relationship that forces them to confront not only the insecurities and joys of young love but also the broader societal issues that shape their experiences as Black teens in America.
As they venture through their love story, they each begin to understand themselves better.
