Plot
In a society sharply divided by wealth, Rudo resides in the slums beneath a prosperous town, where he and his foster father, Regto, struggle to carve out a humble existence. The town’s affluent citizens live in luxury above, while those below endure the consequences of their rampant wastefulness. Rudo, deeply disillusioned by the selfishness and excess of the upper class, cannot hide his contempt. Unlike others who keep their heads down to survive, Rudo often defies warnings and scavenges through discarded garbage in hopes of reclaiming what others have carelessly thrown away.
This isn’t just about survival for Rudo—it’s personal. Years ago, his biological father was accused of murder and cast into the Abyss, a bottomless pit where society dumps everything it deems worthless—trash, broken machines, and even human beings. Since then, the Abyss has symbolized everything Rudo despises about the system that governs his world.
But Rudo’s life takes a devastating turn when he encounters a mysterious figure during a routine scavenging trip. Upon returning home, he finds Regto lying motionless, fatally wounded. Before he can make sense of what’s happened, the town’s authorities arrive and charge him with murder. Branded as a criminal and offered no chance to prove his innocence, Rudo is sentenced to the same fate as his father—cast into the Abyss.
However, instead of dying upon impact, Rudo wakes in a strange, grim realm far different from anything he imagined. The air is thick with the stench of decay, and grotesque creatures—twisted amalgamations of trash and flesh—roam the wastelands. Alone and overwhelmed, Rudo’s first encounter with these monsters nearly ends in death—until he’s rescued by a powerful man named Enjin.
