New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday granted bail to Kannada film actress Ragini Dwivedi, arrested for alleged involvement in the sandalwood drugs case.

The actress was arrested four months ago in September in Bengaluru over alleged links with international drug cartel involved in supplying psychedelic drugs at rave parties and other events.

A bench of justices R F Nariman, Navin Sinha and K M Joseph set aside Karnataka High Court order refusing to grant bail to Dwivedi and others in the case registered under various provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The actress had challenged Karnataka High Court order. She had claimed that she was framed in a false case by prosecution to attract public attention. She also alleged she had been kept in jail beyond 100 days without proof.

Ragini has been booked under provisions of the NDPS (Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC) Acts, for her alleged involvement in the drugs case.

She claimed that she had been made an accused and remained in jail even after 100 days, even though there has been no recovery of any drugs from her.
