New Delhi: Korean Trot singer Haesoo committed suicide at the age of 29. Korean news channel YTN reported Haesoo had passed away before her performance at a festival on May 20. Police found a body of a singer on May 13 but they withheld the identity before the news broke out on May 15.
The police had found the body of the singer in her hotel room along with a letter written by the singer. The police mentioned that they do not suspect any foul play.
She was supposed to perform at the Gwanjumyeon People’s Day event in Wanju Gun, Jeollabuk-do. The organisers called the South Korean media outlet to inform them about Haesoo’s absence from the event as she passed away.
Born in 1993, Haesoo made her singing debut in 2019 with the single album ‘내 인생 내가’ (My Life, Me). She rose to popularity with her appearance in television programs ‘Gayo Stage’, ‘AM Plaza’, ‘Hangout With Yoo’, and ‘The Trot Show’, where she flaunted her singing skills.
This was the second such shocking death for the K-pop industry after ASTRO’s Moonbin passed away at the age of 25 on April 19. Moonbin was part of the Korean boy band ASTRO and their agency Fantagio issued the official statement announcing the demise of the singer.
