Released in theaters on December 13, 2024, the film faced significant challenges at the box office. With a production budget of approximately $110 million, it garnered only around $61.6 million globally, marking it as one of the lower-performing superhero films in recent times.
The film will now be streaming on Amazon Prime Video on the 10th of February, 2025.
Plot
The film follows Sergei Kravinoff a young man raised in the shadow of his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff. He is a powerful and violent Russian oligarch. From an early age, Sergei is subjected to brutal survivalist training. His father instills in him the belief that only the strongest deserve to live.
However, Sergei does not share his father’s cold-blooded nature and often struggles with the moral implications of his upbringing.
During a hunting expedition in the African wilderness, Nikolai tests his son by forcing him to kill a lion. When Sergei refuses, his father brands him as weak and leaves him for dead. However, fate intervenes when the very lion Sergei spared attacks him. In a near-death experience, the lion’s blood mysteriously saves him upon contact. .The blood grants him enhanced animalistic abilities—superhuman strength, agility, heightened senses, and an almost supernatural connection to nature.
Realizing that his father abandoned him, Sergei spends years honing his newfound powers and developing a deep respect for the natural world. He grows into a ruthless yet principled hunter, vowing to hunt only those who deserve it. Kraven targets predators of the worst kind: poachers, traffickers, and criminals.
Upon returning to civilization, Sergei discovers that his father has continued his violent ways. Having expanded his empire into arms dealing and human trafficking. With a newfound purpose, Sergei sets his sights on his most dangerous prey yet. his own father. He adopts the identity of Kraven the Hunter.
He becomes a man who eliminates those who abuse power and harm the innocent.
