Land of Tanabata OTT Release Date: Know everything about this supernatural mystery thriller Japanese drama series

New Delhi: An adaptation of Iwaaki Hitoshi’s manga series “Tanabata no Kuni” is the basis for the Japanese science fiction mystery series Land of Tanabata. From 1996 to 1999, the chapters of the manga were compiled into four tankōbon volumes and published in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Big Comic Spirits.

Now, the live-action version of Hitoshi Iwaaki’s Tanabata no Kuni manga has been given a premiere date of July 4 on Disney Plus Hotstar. The English title of the series is Land of Tanabata.

In addition to that, there is a teaser trailer that provides us with a glimpse of the main character, Minamimaru Yoji, as well as the enigmatic concept of the plot.

Storyline

Minamimaru Yoji, also known as Nanmaru, is the protagonist of this series. In addition to being an ordinary student at a university, he has a superhuman power that enables him to make tiny holes in everything.

Suddenly, Nanmaru finds himself in the middle of a crisis that might cause the end of the world, and the only thing he can do to assist is utilize his ineffective power. Owning this apparently insignificant power, he is required to deal with a problem that threatens the whole globe.

When and Where to Watch?

From 1996 until 1999, Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Big Comic Spirits carried the original Tanabata no Kuni manga series. The chapters were compiled into four tankōbon volumes by Shogakukan and were published between June 30, 1997, and February 26, 1999.

Now, the launch of the live-action series adaptation of the series was scheduled to take place on Disney Plus Hotstar on July 4, 2024, according to an announcement made in January 2024.

Cast and Crew

The series stars Hosoda Kanata as Minamimaru Yoji, the lead role. Among the supporting cast members are Fujino Ryoko (Higashimaru Sachiko), Uesugi Shuhei (Higashimaru Takashi), Kiryuu Mai (Emi Sayuri), Mikami Hiroshi (Marukami Masami), Yamada Takayuki (Marukami Yoriyuki), Narumi Yui (Aki), Hamada Tatsuomi (Tagaya), Nishihata Reika (Sakuragi Tomoko), Fukami Motoki (masumoto Kunitada), and Ibu Masato (Higashimaru Ryuzo).

The series was directed by Taki Yusuke and written by Asato Mari and Oe Takamasa.
