New Delhi: Producer-director Hansal Mehta shared the teaser for his upcoming venture ‘Lootere’. The web series is directed by Hansal’s son Jai Mehta and will be streaming on Disney+Hotstar. The show stars Rajat Kapoor, Vivek Gomber and Amruta Khanvilkar and is centred around Somalian pirates. The father-son duo are back making thrillers after the success of ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’.
The teaser shows a montage featuring a stationed cargo ship and a group of armed Somalian pirates. While Rajat Kapoor is seen in action, Vivek Gomber is seen pocketing cash and crying into Amruta Khanvilkar’s shoulders. The pirates are seen breaking into the ship and attacking the crew members as the teaser features a lot of action and gun violence. Rajat Kapoor in the end says, “Welcome to Somalia…”
The series, reportedly, is based on the true incidents of a commercial Indian ship getting hijacked off the coast of Somalia. The teaser promises the show to be an action-packed thriller. The web series also features Deepak Tijori, Chandan Roy Sanyal, and Gaurav Paswala.
Sharing the teaser on social media, Hansal Mehta wrote, “Proud to present this @jaihmehta directorial #Lootere. A tale of greed, survival, terror and chaos – #HotstarSpecials #Lootere, coming soon. Produced by @shaaileshrsingh.”
Hansal Mehta will also be directing a web series based on RK Yadav’s book ‘Mission R&AW’, which is based on the life of the first chief of India’s foreign intelligence agency R&AW, RN Kao. Hansal is also working on another addition to the Scam series with ‘Scam 2003’, based on the Stamp Paper fraud by Abdul Karim Telgi.
