Mrs. OTT Release Date: Mrs. is a 2024 drama film directed by Aarti Kadav. It stars Sanya Malhotra, along with Kanwaljit Singh, and Nishant Dahiya.
The film has been making rounds of various international film festival. It premiered at the 2023 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. The teaser was unveiled in November 2023. The film was selected as the closing film at the 2024 New York Indian Film Festival, where Arati Kadav was nominated for the Best Director category.
The film made Asia premiere at the 55th IFFI 2024 on November 22, 2024, as well as in the 14th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), 2024.
Mrs. is set to arrive on the streaming platform Zee5, no streaming date has been announced yet.
Plot
Richa has been a dance teacher for a long while. Music and dancing to the beat of it has been her passion for as long as she recalls it. Her attraction to a wealthy doctor Diwakar is an instant connection. Soon enough, she is married to him and goes to live with him and his parents in her new family.
When she enters the house, someone warns her about the rules. If she has to live here, she has to follow what the people of this house follow. Richa isn’t fazed by the indirect threat, instead, she seems to egg it on. She wears earbuds in the kitchen as she works, listening to music and dancing along as she cooks the food.
This often leads to mishaps like the overcooking of food or making it the wrong way, something her in-laws don’t hold back on criticizing. Often she’s unable to hear her husband calling her name due to the music playing in her ears all the time. All of this adds to a collective burden on her shoulders.
She finds herself unable to pursue her passion, dealing with the issues of a new life and the problems that tag along. The film expertly critiques the themes of misogyny and a tasteless happily ever after laced with misogyny, arrogance, and stubbornness.
