Red Life OTT Release Date: The film is prepared to release via over-the-top services after having premiered in theatres in November 2023. On February 1, 2024, the film will have its debut on Netflix

New Delhi: On November 02, 2023, theatres around Thailand began showing Red Life, a film that had its world debut at the 36th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) and was nominated for the Asian Future category for emerging Asian filmmakers.

Two independent stories are told in the film, which boasts an ensemble cast.

Plot

A group of young people living in Bangkok’s shadows. This movie paints a genuine picture of their hopes and hardships as they seek true love despite their difficult circumstances.

A tragic love tale unfolds in Bangkok’s seedy underworld. A young thief named Ter commits robberies to buy love. Together with his beloved sex worker, Mild, he hopes to create a better life for themselves. A sex worker’s daughter, Som, thinks love may change her life for the better. Som develops feelings and gets involved in a relationship with the mysterious school idol Peach. Red Life delves into a reality that is fragmented, and overlooked and provides no means of evasion.

When and Where to Watch?

The film is prepared to release via over-the-top services after having premiered in theatres in November 2023. On February 1, 2024, the film will have its debut on Netflix.

Casts

Jomjam Karnpicha Pongpanit (Mild), Fye Sumitta Duangkaew (Peach), and others had supporting roles in the film, which starred Bank Thiti Mahayotaruk (Ter) and Sydney Supitcha Sangkhachinda (Som) as the main lead.

Other Details

Having spent two decades working in advertising, Lak Ekalak Klunson makes his directing debut with this film. Making a film that reflects society to him has always been his goal. With the launch of BrandThink production, he recently shifted his focus to different types of storytelling, and now Red Life is the initiative that brought his dream to fruition.

It is worth mentioning that tales like these rarely get created, even less often get done well, and rarely get worldwide recognition. The fundamental premise of the piece, sex work in Thailand, is that the business is still criminalised and that labour rules do not protect the workers.

The film allows viewers to delve further into the protagonists’ personal lives set against the background of systemic failures by focusing on their love and sexual lives.
