New Delhi: Days after actress Sai Pallavi courted controversy with remarks on Kashmiri Pandit exodus from the valley, a police complaint has been filed against her. The complaint was lodged against the actress by Bajrang Dal leaders who reportedly got offended at her drawing parallel between exodus of Pandits and cow vigilantism incidents.
The complaint was filed at Sultan Bazar police station in Hyderabad over remarks in an interview, however, no case has been filed yet. The complainants submitted a 27 second video clip as ‘evidence’, however, the police have demanded larger clip for bringing things in perspective.
The police said that they will first assess the content in video content and then proceed.
The actress, while promoting her upcoming film Virata Parvam compared Kashmir genocide to ‘lynching for cow smuggling.’
Her sharp views on cow vigilantees, who often beat smugglers and her equating it with the Kashmiri Pandit exodus left her fans divided. Many called out her for demeaning the fight of Pandits while others found reason it her views.
The acterss, when quizzed further about her political leanings, said that she was ideologically neutral.

“The film, The Kashmir Files, shows how Kashmiri Pandits were killed. Recently, there was an incident of a person being killed for carrying a cow because he was suspected to be a Muslim. After killing the person, the attackers raised ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans. Where is the difference between what happened in Kashmir and what happened recently?”, the Paava Kadhaigal actor said.
