Plot
The first season introduces Seong Gi-hun, a struggling gambler and divorced father who is deeply in debt. He receives a mysterious invitation to participate in a series of games with 455 other contestants. All of whom are financially desperate. The games, which are based on traditional Korean children’s games, quickly turn lethal. Losers are killed on the spot as winners get to move forward.
As the competition progresses, alliances form and betrayals emerge. Gi-hun befriends several contestants. Eventually, the show reveals that Gi-hun wins the games but refuses to spend the prize money for a long time.
Season 2
Season 2 focuses on Gi-hun’s revenge against the creators of the Squid Game. In the Season 1 finale, Gi-hun decides not to leave for the U.S. to see his daughter. Instead, he vows to take down the organization behind the games.
As season 3 commences, it will serve as the final chapter of the series. Acting as a conclusion to Gi-hun’s story. The creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, hinted that Gi-hun will face a critical crossroads in his mission. The games will likely reach a global scale, and the creators will introduce new antagonists.
