New Delhi: Telugu film ‘RRR’ has become a big thing in the West and is nominated for Best Foreign Film and Best Original Song for ‘Naatu Naatu’ at the 80th Golden Globes. Following the nominations, director SS Rajamouli, along with lead actors Ram Charan and NTR Jr, will attend the Golden Globes awards in Los Angeles, California on January 10.
As the award season catches pace, Rajamouli has been in the US screening and promoting the film. ‘RRR’ witnessed a strong campaign for these awards, including the prestigious Oscars. Following the campaign, the song ‘Naatu Naatu’ was also shortlisted at the Oscars and is one step away from getting a nomination.
Rajamouli will be present at the Golden Globes with notable filmmakers like Steven Spielberg for ‘The Fablesman’, and James Cameron for ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’.
The Golden Globes is going on air again after a two-year boycott of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) as criticism about the group’s lack of diverse members and complaints of unethical business practices emerged. The award ceremony will be telecast on NBC. The award night will be hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael.
‘RRR’ also stars Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt, alongside Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Olivia Morris, and Alison Doody. The film is set in a pre-Independence era and is a fictional tale inspired by two real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The Telugu film was released globally in March and was also dubbed in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
