New Delhi: Randeep Hooda starrer much-hyped movie Swatantrya Veer Savarkar was released on big screens surrounded by numerous controversies on March 22nd, 2024.
Inspired by the life of a pro-Hindutva freedom fighter Vinakay Damodar Sawarkar, better known as Veer Savarkar, the movie, made with a budget of Rs 20 crore performed decently in the theaters & raked in nearly Rs 30 crores from ticket windows.
Meanwhile, now with the Randeep Hooda directorial’s theatrical run almost concluded, fans are looking forward to the film’ OTT debut which, according to the reports, is expected to be made in the first week of June on Zee 5.
This means that the fans who missed watching the biographical movie will soon be able to watch it from the comfort of their homes with a basic subscription to the OTT platform’s services.
However, it is also important to note here that an official confirmation about the movie’s OTT release date and platform is yet to be made by the makers.
Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Plot
Set in the British colonial period in India, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar takes inspiration from the life of pro-Hindutva freedom fighter Vinakay Damodar Sawarkar who encouraged the countrymen to fight against the British & help in liberating India from the colonial clutches.
The movie portrays Sawarkar as a rebellious young mind who had his differences with the Congress’ non-violence ideology and believed that an armed retaliation against the British was pivotal in compelling them to pack their stuff and leave India.

Written, directed, and produced by the film’s lead actor Randeep Hooda himself, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, in its cast, features Varun Buddhadev, Ankita Lokhande, Tirrtha Murbaadkar, Amit Sial, Rajesh Khera, Chetan Swaroop, Lokesh Mittal, Rahul Kulkarni, Brajesh Jha, Santosh Ojha amongst other in important roles.
With Zee Studios as its distributor, the biographical political movie has been released under the banner of multiple production houses including Legend Studios, Randeep Hooda Films, Avak Films, and Anand Pandit Motion Pictures.
