Plot

In the shadowed countryside of late 19th-century France, a land baron, driven by greed and a ruthless desire for power, orders the violent massacre of a peaceful Roma clan that resides on the land he wishes to claim. Believing he can erase their existence without consequence, he ignores their pleas and warnings, burying their bodies and their legacy beneath the cold earth. But what he doesn’t realize is that his actions have awakened something far older and far darker than superstition—a curse forged not in myth, but in blood.

Soon after the atrocity, the village begins to unravel. Unease hangs heavy in the air, thick as the morning fog. The baron’s own household is the first to suffer. His young son vanishes without a trace, last seen playing near the woods at dusk. As the villagers organize frantic search parties, their anxiety grows, fed by a collective sense that something unnatural is watching them from the treeline.

Not long after, the mutilated body of another village boy is discovered under mysterious and grisly circumstances. Panic spreads like wildfire. The villagers, desperate for answers, blame a wild animal—a wolf, perhaps, or something larger—roaming the dense forests surrounding their homes. Yet the savagery of the kill defies explanation, far more brutal and methodical than any known predator.

As fear takes root, a reserved and enigmatic pathologist named John McBride arrives in the village, drawn by whispers of the unexplained. Haunted by tragedies of his own and possessing a deep knowledge of folklore and disease, McBride begins to suspect that what’s happening in the village is far more than just random violence. He observes the dreams tormenting the townsfolk—shared visions of fangs, shadows, and unspeakable horrors—and the eerie signs of transformation among those affected.
