The Girl with the Needle OTT Release: Based on a true story, the historical psychological horror drama will premiere on 24th January on the Mubi TV app. The film was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or at the 77th Cannes Film Festival where it premiered on 15 May 2024 to critical acclaim.
Plot
The story of the thriller mystery follows the life of a woman named Caroline who becomes pregnant at a young age and starts working as a Wet nurse for an older woman named Dagmar.
The lady named Dagmar runs an adoption agency and helps disadvantaged mothers place their unwanted newborns in foster homes. Caroline grows close to Dagmar but soon her life takes a dramatic turn.
The Streaming platform shared the teaser of the show, which begins with a lady applying for a widow supplement but the officer is asking to bring the certificate of her dead husband
However, Without the death certificate, the officer is unable to grant her application. In the next scene, Caroline is seen with a man, and someone asks who is he.
The man replies I am her husband. Then the husband is seen taking out his mask on a table. In the next scene, a woman is seen holding Caroline’s face in her hand and she says, the world is a horrible place
But we need to believe it is not. The trailer contains questions, mystery, and a pinch of horror and drama. The woman Caroline lives a mysterious life and it is not revealed if her husband is alive or not.
Cast and Production
Magnus Von Horn directed the film and was as chosen as the Danish entry for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards.
