Tsunami: Race Against Time OTT Release: The documentary TV show is all set to premiere on Disney+Hotstar on 25th November. The docuseries is about hope, heroism and hardship from 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami.

About the Show

The Documentary will revisit one of the most deadliest natural disasters that took place over 20 years ago which spanned ovr 14 countries. The series throws light on how the deadliest natural disaster shook the entire nation.

The 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami was one of the natural disasters in history. A 9.1 magnitude earthquake shook off the coast of Sumatra on December 26, 2004. However, the earthquake released energy equivalent to 23,000 Hiroshima type atomic bombs.

Over 10,000 people lost their lives in India and they were mostly women and children from Chennai.

The waves travelled across the Indian Ocean at 500 miles per hour, it killed over 227,898 people in over 14 countries including India, Thailand, Indonesia and Srilanka. The earthquake destroyed many communities, displaced millions including infrastructural damage.

In the documentary, the audience will witness people’s reactions who witnessed the tragedy and their lives were moved when the earthquake hit their country. many witnesses got teary-eyed recalling the incident.

The most shocking part was this deadly natural disaster occured and no warning was given by the authorities, however the government formed the agencies for the rehabilitation and reconstruction for the affected countries.

The impact of the tragedy was so hard, many bodies were seen littered on the screens and were waiting to be collected. Meanwhile, many hospitals and morgues struggled to accomodate the bodies.
