Umjolo OTT Release: The movie features the plight a man feels after remaining in a friend-zoned relationship for most of his life with his childhood best friend.
To rub the bitterness in his face, his best friend is now married and has kids of her own. With the plot of the movie revolving around their relationship and it’s elements, the series is an assured great hit.
The South African Film explores the theme of romance and conflicted emotions and will be released on the streaming platform Netflix, on 20th December.
Plot
Andile has been friends with Zanele for as long as he can remember. They have always had a strong friendship that has remained connected since day 1. As life moves, the two of them get married to their significant others. Zanele has kids of her own and Andile has his wife named Jessica.
But it is not how it seems to be. As Andile isn’t actually in a relationship with the person he wants to be with. Andile is actually in love with his best friend Zandele. His friends pass him advice that you can never have a ‘female best friend’. Although Andile struggles to understand and express his feelings, he is unwilling to put the burden on Zanele about the possibility of a relationship.
His friends and relatives ask him if he has ever wondered how it would be if instead of his wife Jessica, Zandele had been the bride instead. Andile does not have an answer for it. No matter his feelings, he also doesn’t want to end up hurting his wife Jessica’s feelings. To make matters worse, his relatives tell him that maybe he has married the wrong person.
Alongside that, he can also see that despite their relationship, Jessica is not welcomed or fits into his culture. The future of his relationship can be seen shrouded in the dark and Andile must find a way to fix it.
