Veteran actor Javed Khan Amrohi passes away due to lung failure

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Javed Khan Amrohi passed away on February 14. Javed was suffering from breathing issues and was bedridden for the past one year. He was admitted to Surya Nursing Home, Santacruz where he passed away after lung failure. His supurd-e-khak ceremony will be performed at Oshiwara Muslim cremation ground at 7:30 pm.

The actor has worked in over 150 films and television shows including ‘Prem Rog’, ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’, ‘Aashiqui’, ‘Coolie No. 1’, ‘Chak De! India’ and ‘Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India’. He has been part of the critically acclaimed TV shows ‘Mirza Ghalib’ and ‘Nukkad’. He rose to fame with his acting in ‘Andaz Apna Apna’.

Javed Khan Amrohi was known for his supporting roles and cameos where he entertained the audience with his craft and comic timing. The actor made his debut with Jalte Badan in 1973, which led to a 50-year-long memorable career. He came from a theatre background, where he acted in various street plays as well.

The actor also worked as a faculty at the Zee Institute of Media Arts.

The film fraternity and his fans shared condolences on the internet and remembered him for his iconic roles.
