New Delhi: Much loved actor-director Satish Kaushik passed away at the age of 66 due to a heart attack. While the film fraternity paid condolences on his demise, PM Narendra Modi also shared a tweet to express grief as Indian cinema lost one of its gems. Paying condolences, PM Modi wrote that Satish Kaushik was a ‘creative genius’ and won hearts with his acting and direction.
Pained by the untimely demise of noted film personality Shri Satish Kaushik Ji. He was a creative genius who won hearts thanks to his wonderful acting and direction. His works will continue to entertain audiences. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.

Not just the Prime Minister, but many political leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari also paid condolences.

Actor and friend Anupam Kher was the first one to break the news of Kaushik’s untimely demise. The film fraternity came together and paid condolence to Satish Kaushik’s family and also poured in heartfelt messages.

The actor passed away due to a heart attack in Gurugram.
He started acting with the theatre society ‘The Players’ in Kirori Mal College and went on to learn the craft in NSD and FTII. Based in Karol Bagh, Satish Kaushik shifted to Mumbai to make a career in films. He started with Shekhar Kapoor as an assistant director in ‘Masoom’ and went on to write, act and direct in some of the most notable Hindi films.
In the 80s, he became a known face with David Dhawan’s comedies and in his direction, he won everyone’s hearts with the Salman Khan starrer ‘Tere Naam’.
