New Delhi: American film ‘Wedding Season’ was released on August 4. The film features a story in which two Indian-Americans fake a love story after being forced to marry by their parents.
The rom-com stars Pallavi Sharda and Suraj Sharma in the lead along with Sean Kleier, Arianna Afsar, Veena Sood, Rizwan Manji and many others. Directed by Tom Dey, the film is written by Shiwani Srivastava. Shiwani got her script to Netflix after participating in multiple screenwriting competitions, including the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, Final Draft’s Big Break, and the ScreenCraft Comedy Competition. It was the ScreenCraft Comedy Competition that introduced her to an executive at Netflix.
The story
As Asha, played by Pallavi, and Ravi, played by Suraj, fake their romance to survive the summer of weddings, they actually fall for each other. Now, it is a tussle for them to balance their relationship, respective careers, and parents’ expectations, all while keeping their culture in mind.
The ending
Asha receives a major career opportunity in London and a truth is revealed that leads to Asha and Ravi parting their ways. The movie does not end there. There is a grand revelation and a happy ending written by the writer Shiwani as the film ends with a fine dance.
About crew and production
The music in the film is Jongnic Bontemps and Raashi Kulkarni. Raashi has worked in the music department in films like ‘The Flash’ and ‘Greyhound’ while she has composed the music for ‘#MeToo, Now What?’. The film is shot by cinematographer Meena Singh who is known for her work in ‘Obsessed’ and ‘Little Stones’.
