J&K: 2 Army jawans martyred in ceasefire violation by Pakistan
New Delhi: An army jawan was martyred in Pakistani firing along the Machil sector of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
“Ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Machil Sector of Kupwara district occurred at around 10.45 am. Own troops retaliated strongly. One soldier was martyred in the enemy fire,” said Colonel defence spokesman Rajesh Kalia in Srinagar.
Following the ceasefire violation, the Indian Army retailiated strongly to Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri (Baramulla district) and Machil sector.
Another ceasefire violation by Pakistani forces was reported along LoC in Kamalkote Sector of Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Security sources said that intermittent firing was going on in both the sectors.
Official sources said cross LoC trade has been suspended from Uri route following injuries to two army men in Pakistani firing yesterday.
In another incident, one BSF jawan was martyred in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Surankote sector of Rajouri district in Jammu region today.
