JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy to meet Sonia, Rahul Gandhi on Monday
New Delhi: The JD (S) leader H D Kumaraswamy will meet United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi in the capital on Monday.
“Yes, tomorrow morning I’m going to Delhi. I’ll meet Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Just 24 hours after the oath, I’ll prove the majority,” Kumaraswamy said.
Meanwhile, leaders from the Congress and Janata Dal-Secular will be meeting today to discuss the future of the alliance in the state assembly.
The elected MLAs from both the parties are expected to attend the meeting.
‘Supported JD(S) to uphold constitutional principles’
Talking about Karnataka cabinet formation, senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said, “The high command will take decision.
We, being a national party supported JD(S), a regional party to uphold the constitutional principles and democracy.
On Saturday, Kumaraswamy was invited by Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala to form the government in the state, after Bharatiya Janata Party’s BS Yeddyurappa stepped down ahead of the floor test in the state assembly.
Kumaraswamy to take oath on May 23
HD Kumaraswamy is all set to take oath as Karnataka chief minister on May 23.
The third son of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda had earlier headed the BJP-JD(S) coalition government for twenty months from January 2006.
The May 12 assembly polls threw up a hung assembly, with the BJP emerging as the single largest party with 104 seats. The Congress got 78 seats and the JD(S) along with its alliance partner BSP, won 38 seats.
