New Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar on Monday said “an alternative narrative” was the need of the hour for the Opposition as a mere “reactive narrative” was not helping them in countering the government.

“What I said during a party meeting yesterday was in a particular context, don’t interpret it differently,” Kumar said.

“I have said several times that the Congress is a big party and it should set the agenda. Opposition needs an alternate narrative, just reactive narrative won’t work.

“I have said earlier also that I am not the PM face of opposition in 2019, neither am I eligible.”

On not attending the midnight GST event, he said, “There was no invitation,so where is the question of attending or skipping?”

On various allegations leveled by Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sushil Modi against his government and his alliance partner Lalu Yadav and his two sons, Kumar said, “He (Sushil Modi) has a habit of giving statements daily, I don’t read and neither do I have interest.”
