President’s rule imposed in Jammu and Kashmir from midnight
New Delhi: President’s rule has been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir after Ram Nath Kovind signed a proclamation ordering imposition of central rule in the state from midnight today. The Governor’s rule ended on December 19.
The Centre recommended President’s rule after a report by Governor Satya Pal Malik, officials said on Tuesday. The Union Cabinet gave its go-ahead for President’s rule after Wednesday (December 19), a Home Ministry official told IANS.

The state plunged into a political crisis in June this year after People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti-led coalition government was reduced to a minority following withdrawal of support by the 25-member Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.
